TWISTERBOX
Twisterbox is synonymous with continuous layer formation. First introduced by ACMI in 2002, the Twisterbox revolutionized the concept of layer formation and enabled palletizing systems to reach speeds that were previously unimaginable. In 2024, we completely redesigned the Twisterbox structure, making it fully modular and eliminating the traditional “cage-style” frame that had characterized it from the beginning. This significant R&D effort gave rise to the Twisterbox 5 — a system that represents the highest expression of ACMI’s innovation and engineering expertise. Modularity, industrialization, ergonomics, accessibility, and high performance are the key features of the new Twisterbox, delivering a series of tangible advantages for the customer: reduced installation times, simplified maintenance, low operating costs, ease of use, and high format flexibility. Each module — with up to three modules per Twisterbox — includes a motorized robotic gripping head (we’ve replaced pneumatic actuation) that moves along two Cartesian axes to manipulate the packs traveling on a motorized belt and form the product layer for palletizing. Delicacy, speed, flexibility, and precision are the defining characteristics of this system, which, in its most advanced configuration, can reach speeds of 140,000 cans per hour in 2x2 packs (even without shrink-wrapping) and handle special applications such as continuous pack splitting and product flavor mixing (repacking).
